ABOUT US.
Catholic Lectors Association of Nigeria CLAN Awada Deanery is an organization of Catholic Lectors within the Region of Awada axis in Onitsha Archdiocese. Located in the metropolitan of Onitsha, the association is chaired by the presiding president Duru NobleBruno Osinachi who assumed office as the 3rd government of the association in the year 2020 (October).
There are 13 Parishes presently members of this association whose root all geologically sprang up from their mother parish S.S. John and Paul Parish Iba-Pope Awada. This mother parish if it were to be human would be praised for having had great grand children. She have today a third generation of parishes under her and these parishes will be ranked accordingly and they include;
S.S. John and Paul Parish Iba-Pope Awada. (The Mother Parish)
St Peter De Apostle Parish Iba-Pope Awada. (First offspring)
Other offsprings include :-
St. Joseph Parish Iba-Pope Awada
St Mary's Parish Iba-Pope Awada
St Michaels Parish Iba-Pope Awada
Holy Trinity Parish Iba-Pope Awada.
These parishes however begot their various offsprings accordingly as below:-
Holy Spirit Parish Oduke Iba-Pope Awada (Begot by St Peter De Apostle Parish)
St Hillary Parish Iba-Pope Awada (Begot by Holy Trinity Parish)
Blessed Iwene Tansi Parish Iba-Pope Awada (Begot by Holy Trinity Parish)
St Benedict Parish Iba-Pope Awada ( Begot by Holy Trinity Parish)
St. Theresa of Calcutta Parish Iba-Pope Awada (Begot by Holy Trinity Parish)
Holy Family Parish Iba-Pope Awada (Begot by St Mary's Parish)
St Dominic Parish Iba-Pope Awada (Begot by Holy Family Parish)
However, Holy Family Chaplaincy Army Barracks was in the likes of the deanery though created on its own by the Archbishop of Onitsha ecclesiastical province Most Rev. Dr. Valerian Mmaduka Okeke. But following the uprising in the eastern region of Nigeria where this association is located, the Chaplaincy was allowed to be on its own being inside the Army Barracks.
The association is known for proclaiming the first and second readings at every Sunday and weekday mass (Morning and evening, Monday to Saturday) in all the parishes according to the doctrine of the Church
